Gulf View

This home was designed for a family of five that tragically lost their home in a wildfire. After bouncing around temporary housing after the fire, the mother and father simply wanted their three boys to have a permanent home they could grow into. It was also important to create outdoor spaces for the entire family to use year-round. Sitting on the Choctawatchee Bay there are sightlines from the steel front door all the way to the water. Painted brick and a reclaimed slate roof add a sense of permanence to this coastal retreat. The open plan is functional for entertaining and accommodating the needs of a growing family while fostering a sense of calm and security. One of the more popular features is an oversized bourbon bar in the center of the home that keeps people out of the kitchen.
